Approximately 1,600 Central Electric members in Chatham County experienced two power outages during the early morning hours of Nov. 8. At 12:43 a.m. crews responded to an outage but found no issues, restoring power at approximately 2:39 a.m. Later in the morning, a second outage affecting two feeders out of the Siler City substation occurred at 8:32 a.m. Upon investigation, crews found a broken guy-wire making contact with equipment inside the substation causing the outages. After resolving the issue, power was restored to all members at 10:30 a.m.
