Teachers: Being an Early Bird could win you $100

Sanford, N.C., (July 27, 2015) – North Carolina’s electric cooperatives, including Central Electric, are accepting applications for Bright Ideas education grants to fund creative, classroom-based learning projects. The final deadline to apply is Sept. 18, but teachers who submit their application by the early bird deadline of Aug. 14 will be entered for a chance to win one of five $100 gift cards.
Teachers can apply for Bright Ideas grants of up to $2,000, which is part of $600,000 in Bright Ideas funding that will be awarded to teachers statewide during the 2015-2016 school year. Central Electric will be awarding approximately $10,000 in total grants for the upcoming year. Classroom teachers at qualifying schools in Chatham, Harnett, Lee and Moore counties can apply for grants individually or as a team. Since 1994, North Carolina’s electric cooperatives have awarded more than $9.6 million in Bright Ideas grants funding for more than 9,200 projects benefitting 1.8 million students.
