Sanford, N.C., - January 29, 2014- Despite a direct hit, Central Electric Membership Corporation survived Winter Storm Leon without any problems. At this time there are no outages to report and nothing from the overnight of any significant value.
However our power concerns aren’t over yet. Today our members will face significantly low temperatures once again. We’d like to encourage them to use energy wisely. Turn your thermostat down when you leave. Open your curtains or blinds while it is daylight to heat up the home naturally. Use extra blankets, layer your clothing and consume hot beverages. Plus if you lose electricity, turn off your large appliances like heat pumps, and refrigerators. It will help get the power back on sooner. Following these tips will help the environment as well as your wallet.
Should you lose power for some reason today, please report it. Call Central Electric 24 hours a day at 1-877-766-6769. Keep in mind that wait times may be longer than usual due to high call volumes.
