2013 Early Bird Winner

Sanford, N.C., September 3, 2013- Corinne Walls is the recipient of this year’s Early Bird Award. The honor is in connection with Central Electric Membership Corporation’s (CEMC) Bright Ideas program. Each year CEMC selects a teacher who applies early for the scholarship. Walls’ is a part of Crain’s Creek Middle School in Carthage, NC in Moore County. She submitted her Here Comes the Sun project well ahead of the competition. Registration for the Bright Ideas Grant is still underway however September 20, 2013 is this year's cut-off. Annually teachers can apply for grants of up to $2000, which is part of more than $600,000 in Bright Ideas funding that will be awarded to teachers statewide during the upcoming school year. Certified classroom educators at qualifying schools in Chatham, Harnett, Lee, and Moore counties can apply for grants individually or as a team.
