Sanford, NC., October 16, 2012- Concern for the community is one of the seven principles Central Electric practices daily. So when local leaders alerted the cooperative of the Club Troopers program, instantly Central EMC desired to help. Club Troopers is a curriculum through the Boys & Girls Clubs of Sanford/ Lee County, Inc. which ministers to children whose parents are deployed, or simply serving in the military. The program matches up kids in Lee and Harnett counties with other children who are going through or have experienced a lot of the same situations and feelings.
Though Central Electric previously made a donation to this program, the cooperative felt it could do more. Dal Langston, CEMC Manager of Administrative Services, contacted CoBank, a business dedicated not only to handling money, but also providing grant monies to a worthy cause. Mr. Langston expressed the importance of this curriculum and the 70 plus kids it would impact. CoBank agreed and awarded the Boys & Girls Clubs $1000.00. The donation is in connection with CoBank’s “Sharing Success” program.
Central Electric Membership Corporation is proud to be a part of this wonderful contribution! If you would like to learn more about the Club Troopers curriculum, contact Shannon Gurwitch at (919) 776-3525.
